This Father’s Day we open Luke 15 and look again at the parable of the lost son where we find that the leading role belongs to the father.
Jesus tells this story because the Pharisees grumbled that He received sinners and ate with them. One son takes the inheritance and squanders it in reckless living; the other never leaves the property, keeps the rules, and still will not come into the party. Both treat the father as a means to an end. So who is actually lost, and what is the Father’s heart toward both kinds of sinner?
In this message, Ps Jason carefully shows that God loves the full spectrum of sinners and comes to draw each of them to Him. If you carry father wounds, feel terror or emptiness when God is called Father, live under shame or an orphan heart, relate to God as a hired servant instead of a son, struggle with performance, comparison, and isolation, or feel distant from God even while serving hard, this message should encourage you greatly.
