After four weeks through Ascend Church’s core values, this week we look at how giving Jesus, the Gospel, the Church, and the Kingdom first place actually changes the way we live.
Paul says, “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,” then immediately, “for it is God who works in you.” So which is it? Our work or God’s work?
In this message, Ps Jason carefully unpacks Philippians 2, showing that God finishes what He starts through our costly effort, not by fear of losing salvation but by a holy desire to please the exalted Christ. If you're finding the Christian life harder than you expected, tempted to slip back into the old life, discouraged in the fight against sin or unanswered prayer, serving to impress people rather than please God, ruled by comfort, fearing you might lose your standing with God if you don’t live holy enough, crushed by failure, or thinking God will love you more if you just try harder, this message will encourage you greatly.
Grace does not give us a free ride; it gives us new desires and real power to work hard for His good pleasure.
